Farewell to Nottinghamshire

Everyone likes to think they leave a job older and wiser. So, on my last day I thought I’d blog what I’ve learned from Nottinghamshire Libraries, after 4 years and 3 jobs with them.

1. Remember what your service does well, and shout about it.  Regularly.

2. Never get complacent in your job.  Restructure, and therefore the need for new skills and ideas, could be just around the corner.

3. A service runs on its staff.  Nurture good relationships, make good contacts, and keep people informed.

4. Look after your customers.  They are the experts in what they need.

I’m definitely older.

  1. Useful points to remember Paul. Good luck in whatever you’re up to next!
